Mr. Olivero would first like to clarify the pronunciation of his first name; it is pronounced YO-ahn. Being of Hispanic origin, his name is actually a male name in Latin culture.
Joan Olivero is a talented and ambitious individual, with a passion for architecture and art. Since the age of five he knew that he wanted to become an architect and artist when he got older. He still remembers his first well drawn image of "Little Bill," which was posted up on the bulletin board of the after school program he attended, during elementary school, in the Bronx, NY.
To keep a long story short, his inspiration to go down the architecture and design paths were: his migration with his family from La Romana, Dominican Republic to the Bronx, NY and Michael Brady (yeah the dad from "The Brady Bunch"). When he first witnessed the differences between the poverty stricken third world houses and the massive skyscrapers of New York City, he knew what he wanted to do; one day, one of those buildings will be designed by him. Joan's ultimate goals are to design and build a modern homeless shelter that will serve as a job training facility for those wanting to transition into the workforce. He also desires to own an architecture firm, once licensed and experienced.
On May 2012, Joan graduated from Norwich University with a Bachelor of Science in Architectural Studies, and minors in Art and English.
Mr. Olivero is currently seeking employment in an architecture firm as a designer. His current goal is to return to graduate school for his M. Arch degree after three years of loyal work and acquiring the IDP hours required for licensing. This plan allows him to take the ARE upon completion of his graduate studies.
